How to Add DLC Directly in Azimuth Launcher (Storm Island & More)

Learn how to register Storm Island and other Forza Horizon 2 DLC folders directly in Azimuth 0.9.10, without merging or replacing game files.

By Refil10/20/2026

Azimuth can load supported Forza Horizon 2 add-on content directly from separate folders. You do not need to merge the DLC into your base-game directory or edit game manifests by hand. This guide focuses on the launcher's built-in Game page, introduced for DLC registration in Azimuth 0.9.9 and supported in 0.9.10.

This tutorial is for your own legally obtained Xbox One game and add-on files. Azimuth and FH2Mods do not provide copyrighted game or DLC files.

Supported content and versions

•Forza Horizon 2 (base game) — Xbox One version 1.0.0.64.

•Storm Island — expansion version 1.0.0.36.

•Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious — standalone game version 1.0.0.6 (experimental). Unlike Storm Island, this is a separate game, not an expansion inside the main FH2 campaign.

•Other content packages — Azimuth 0.9.9+ supports registering packages separately for a game, but compatibility and entitlement behavior may vary by pack. Do not assume every car pack, VIP bonus, or unlock works automatically.

Step 1 — Update Azimuth

1. Get Azimuth from the official download page.

2. Use 0.9.9 or newer; this guide is written for 0.9.10.

3. Before updating an existing setup, make a backup of your Azimuth folder, especially its data directory, which stores your settings and saves.

4. Open azimuth.exe and confirm your base game launches normally before adding extra content.

Step 2 — Organize your folders

Keep the base game and each DLC/package in their own directories. For example:

text

Games/
├── Forza Horizon 2/
│ ├── era.vbi
│ ├── Mount/
│ └── EmbeddedXvd/
├── Storm Island/
│ └── [extracted Storm Island package files]
└── Forza Horizon 2 Fast and Furious/
    └── [extracted standalone game files]

Important: These are example names and locations. Your package folder might have a versioned name. Leave the extracted package's internal directory layout intact; select the actual package folder, not a directory containing several unrelated DLC packages.

Do not copy Storm Island into Forza Horizon 2/Mount, overwrite base-game files, or place its files beside azimuth.exe. The launcher can reference the original separate location.

Step 3 — Register Storm Island inside the launcher

1. Open Azimuth Launcher.

2. Select the Game page.

3. Check that your main Forza Horizon 2 folder is selected. The correct base-game folder contains era.vbi, Mount, and EmbeddedXvd.

4. Find the section for additional game content, then choose Add another (or the corresponding add/browse control).

5. Browse to the Storm Island package directory and select that folder.

6. Confirm the selection. Storm Island should now be listed as content associated with the base game.

7. Keep the package at that location. If you move or rename it later, update the directory in Azimuth.

Step 4 — Let Azimuth prepare the content

Once you add or remove DLC in Azimuth 0.9.10, the launcher prepares the required graphics pipelines immediately, rather than waiting until a later startup. Let that process finish before launching.

Launch Forza Horizon 2, load your game, and check whether the expansion appears as expected in your game progression. Some in-game activities may require you to advance beyond the opening sequence; adding a package does not automatically unlock everything.

Optional — Add Fast & Furious

Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious is a standalone title. To register it:

•Keep its files in a separate, complete folder.

•Open Azimuth's Game page and use the launcher option to add another game or browse to the standalone title's own game folder.

•Select the folder for Fast & Furious 1.0.0.6 and launch that title separately; do not merge it into the original Forza Horizon 2 directory.

•Remember that its support is experimental, so it may have issues not present in the main game.

Adding other DLC packages

Azimuth also allows content packages to be registered separately for each supported game. Add each package from the relevant game's Game page, one folder at a time, and verify the result before adding the next. The launcher registering a package successfully does not guarantee that all its bonus cars or VIP entitlements will be accessible in-game. Extra Options is a separate community mod; it is not required simply to register DLC folders in Azimuth.

Troubleshooting

DLC does not appear in Azimuth

•Make sure you used the Game page's additional-content control, rather than replacing the main game path.

•Check that you selected the extracted DLC package folder itself, not its archive file or the parent folder containing several different packages.

•Confirm the DLC version is supported, especially Storm Island 1.0.0.36.

•Keep the DLC outside the base-game folder and do not flatten or rename files inside the package.

DLC appears in Azimuth but not in the game

•Start the main game and check your progress past the introductory events.

•Double-check whether the package is an expansion, a standalone game, or a separate car/VIP content pack.

•Try a clean setup without third-party mods before assuming Azimuth is at fault. A registered package may still have limitations.

New DLC causes crashes or long loading

•Remove that DLC registration in Azimuth and test the base game alone.

•Re-add the correct folder and allow the launcher to finish preparing graphics pipelines.

•Check the Azimuth log at data\logs\azimuth.log; include logs when reporting a reproducible problem.

•If you have wrapper-hooking mods, reproduce the issue on an unmodified setup first. The Azimuth developer cannot reliably diagnose issues caused by third-party changes.
